Youth

For our Arts & Culture module, the Youth Corps students have the opportunity to spend an evening with EboniRamm. It has been one of the highlights for us each year for the past 14 years.  Eboni does a great job of interacting with the students and I would highly recommend any school or youth group take advantage of an opportunity to experience a jazz poetry session with this artist.  It will be well worth it.

Community

EboniRamm was the catalyst of our group as we brainstormed, planned and presented a Blythewood community event, “Stitching History Together” for a Black History Month Celebration. Her job as emcee immediately brought the audience together with her gospel, blues and jazz songs that raised the ceiling more than once. Her brilliantly executed singing brings out many emotions. Eboni’s poetry flowed within the songs as she wove the stories of the beautiful quilts brought in and displayed by her good friend and quilter, Sandy Benjamin-Hannibal.

Music/Poetry

EboniRamm loves jazz, poetry, music and people, and it all shines in each and every one of her performances. She smiles, sings, and interacts with the audience, creating an individual experience for each person. In addition, Eboni conducts poetry workshops for both children and adults connecting words, music and ideas. It is my pleasure to recommend EboniRamm as a talented jazz performer.

Our Youth in Action!

Working with Eboni during the youth workshop was like breathing new life into the context of the Well Suited exhibit. Eboni’s use of the word, in the form of poetry, awakened the creativity within the students, which may have otherwise been difficult to extract. Eboni’s approach to the workshop with “community “ as its core was brilliant. She linked the fact of the Mardi Gras Indians working as a community. This idea joined the students in groups, aka their community, and it was an easy concept for the students to grasp. From there, the interactions grew and the creative spirit erupted. Eboni is an excellent teacher and an amazing wordsmith. I look forward to working with Eboni in the future.
